1. Explore The Gardens
The Christchurch Botanic Gardens are a must-visit in Autumn. Established in 1863, these gardens span 21 hectares and feature diverse plant collections. During Autumn, trees display a stunning spread of reds, oranges, and yellows. A leisurely stroll along the Avon River, which meanders through the gardens, offers peaceful views of these vibrant colors reflecting off the water. Don’t miss the Central Rose Garden, where late-blooming roses add to the seasonal charm.

One of Emily’s favourite spots in Christchurch is Bottle Lake Forest Park, a fantastic setting in the Autumn. Located approximately 10 kilometers northeast of the city center, this 800-hectare pine forest offers well-maintained trails suitable for various skill levels. The cooler temperatures make for a comfortable ride, and the forest’s mix of evergreens and deciduous trees ensures a captivating blend of green and golden foliage. After your ride, consider relaxing at the nearby beach, accessible via the coastal track.
